Cheltenham Croquet Club can arrange an afternoon or evening session of croquet for local clubs, organisations and companies for some fun croquet. This is a sport where men and women of all ages can compete on equal terms, and we suggest that for a social game for beginners and mixed ability groups, the best option is a version of the game called golf croquet.

We provide mallets, lawns and balls, and participants only need to make sure they are wearing suitable footwear – any flat-soled footwear such as trainers or plimsolls – strictly no heels. There is no dress code for social play at the Club, but this is an outdoor event and we recommend that players come prepared for the weather!

We can start your session off for you, or organise the whole event. Generally a session will start with an introduction to the game, dividing participants into competing groups, and then beginning the game. Depending on your session length and the number in your group, participants can swap and play different opponents during the session.

All events are subject to the availability of lawns, which can be limited by tournaments and members’ events, so it always helps if you can suggest a number of alternative dates when you contact us.

We would like you to have an enjoyable experience, and, depending on your needs and the availability of volunteers, some of the other club facilities could be made available to help make your event more successful. This might be a meeting room for some of your participants before or after the event, or a selection of refreshments. Please ask about these when you contact us.

Groups exclusively of children under 16 may require additional support and arrangements to be made: please state whether this is a young people’s event when making your enquiry.
